- Is Cosmic Memory free to play?
- Yes. All 100 levels and every multiplayer mode are free. Premium is an optional upgrade that removes adverts and boost limits.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no sign-up and no login. Progress is saved in your browser, and online matches use a random ID stored on your device.
- How many levels are there?
- One hundred, played in a fixed order from a 2x2 grid up to 6x6 boards with tight timers and move limits.
- Where is my progress saved?
- In your browser's local storage on the device you play on. It does not sync between browsers or devices.
- Why did my progress disappear?
- Clearing site data, using private browsing, or switching browser or device will start you from level 1. There is no cloud backup.
- Can I play offline?
- Yes for the solo campaign, local pass and play, and the bot. Online matches and the AI opponent need a connection.
- Is there a time limit on every level?
- No. Levels 1 to 9 are untimed. From level 10 onwards every level has a countdown.
- What happens if the timer runs out?
- The level ends in failure. You can restart from a new shuffle or reclaim the exact board you lost on, with time added back.
- Do I lose anything when I fail a level?
- Only your streak. Unlocked levels, completed levels, best times and rewards are all kept.
- What are move limits?
- From level 61 you have 60 moves alongside the timer, and from level 81 only 50. Running out of moves ends the level.
- How do I earn rewards?
- Completing any level gives a 50% chance of one random reward from the ten available.
- How many boosts can I use per level?
- One per attempt without Premium. Restarting the level restores the allowance. Premium removes the cap entirely.
- Can I use boosts in multiplayer?
- No. Boosts are single-player only, so versus matches are decided purely on play.
- What does Premium include?
- Unlimited boosts, no adverts, three extra card backs and direct access to the advantages normally gated behind an advert.
- Is Premium a subscription?
- No. It is a one-off upgrade.
- Do card backs affect gameplay?
- No. They are purely cosmetic and change only the artwork on the reverse of the cards.
- How does online matchmaking work?
- You enter a display name and grid size, then join a queue. When another player with a compatible preference is waiting, the match starts for both of you.
- Can I play with a specific friend?
- Yes. Create a private match to generate an invite link and send it to them. Opening the link puts them straight into your room.
- Can three people play?
- Yes, online. Either player in a running match can request a third, and once approved a short code is generated for them to join.
- What happens if my opponent leaves?
- The match is marked abandoned and resolves on the scores at that moment rather than hanging.
- Is there a chat?
- Online matches and the AI match both have a text chat. Messages are not stored after the match ends and are not moderated.
- How good is the bot?
- Deliberately weak. It remembers only the last two cards it has seen, so any attentive player can beat it.
- How does the AI opponent work?
- The board state is sent to a language model, which picks two cards and explains its reasoning in a thought bubble beside the board.
- Can I turn the music off?
- Yes. One mute control silences both music and sound effects, and it is remembered between sessions.
- Why does the music stop when I switch tabs?
- That is intentional. Audio pauses whenever the game is not the visible tab and resumes when you return.
- Can I install it as an app?
- Yes. It is a Progressive Web App and can be added to a home screen or desktop on all major platforms.
- Does the game show adverts?
- Yes, and they are always optional. Nothing interrupts a level uninvited; adverts only appear when you choose an ad-gated reward. Premium removes them.
- Is there a leaderboard?
- No. The only records kept are your own best times per level.
- Is the game suitable for children?
- The gameplay is, but online matches include unmoderated chat with strangers. For younger players, use local pass and play or the bot.
- How do I report a bug?
- Use the contact page and include your device, browser, the level or mode you were in, and how to reproduce the problem.
